A pre-1920 photograph of our Founder, George Banks.

This undated photo is believed to the earliest in our collection. I will be adding more information about Banks to these pages later. The joy of peace and love in all of its glory.

This is another early photograph of the Chapel that we have in our collection.

It shows the inside of the chapel with the additional roof support, but still with original pews. This means it must have been taken sometime between 1910 and 1920.

Thank you to Mary J for providing this photo of a clown that her parents had arranged to attend her birthday party at the chapel in the early 1950s.

Mary believes it was her 14th or 15th birthday, and although she had been very fond of clowns up until then, encountering one at close range appears to have brought the whole business to an abrupt and permanent conclusion.

“I’ve been terrified of clowns ever since that day,” she told me earlier this week.

She didn't even want the photo back after we made this copy!

Found last year beside the rear storage cupboard, partially wrapped in a paper napkin. It has not yet been positively identified but several members have since agreed is likely of historical importance.

The object appears to be a small hinged metal fitting, darkened with age and marked by two drilled holes. Any person able to identify the item is asked to contact Geoff so that the archive record may be corrected.
